Happy Birthday Megan!!

On a cool September morning 11 years ago, I was given a most precious gift my daughter Megan, I had already been blessed with a beautiful daughter Stephanie, so you could say I was doubly blessed that day. For early in my pregnancy, I knew she was going to be something special, just a feeling, I always felt a sense of peace carrying her. At 7:41 am on the morning of September 27th 1996 my life changed, I would not know the full extent of it then but I could sense she was sent here to bless us.

Megan was a wonderful baby! But as we starting nearing the 18 month stage and she was not yet talking we started a series of Dr's appointments that would lead us to the final diagnosis of Autism. Autism is a devastating diagnosis to some but for me it would be a journey would bring change, a new outlook, a deeper sense of understanding, the journey has been a beautiful one! I have learned so much looking at the world through my daughter's eyes.

I am convinced Megan was sent here to change the way that autism is viewed, she has softened my hard heart and the wild beast that once lived inside of me, a barrier no one had been able to break through, all that have come into contact with Megan have been changed. I am told all the time of how she was able to change their views and opinions on autism, she has triumphed over so many hurdles.

Megan didn't speak until she was 5, she didn't point or use signs she just cried until you figured out what was wrong or what she wanted, trying some days but it is from those days that I would truly learn, that there is no mountain my daughter can not climb.

Megan has defied a lot of the stigmas of Autism. she makes eye contact with all, she loves cuddles, backrubs and hugs, she know has a vocabulary of over 10000 words, she has the most empathetic and generous heart I have ever seen. When a classmate is hurt or crying Megan is right beside side them rubbing them crying, sharing their pain every step of the way, when a classmate succeeds she is right there to cheer them on and i mean cheer like a cheerleader........LOL!The beautiful thing is Megan is teaching her classmates about acceptance it is a most beautiful sight, there are other children in our school with autism, but Megan is the only one who has manged to not only be integrated into her class(they all are integrated)but has become the heart of her class, her classmates watch over her there are there for her through every triumph, they too have returned the favor of being cheerleaders!

I feel so blessed to be a part of Megan's life!! i can't wait to see what the next year brings!!

Happy Birthday Megan!!!!!

Love Mom, Dad and Stephanie

Batty For You Treat Box

You know how I love to make acetate 2,4,6,8 boxes, so I thought I would put together a halloween one for girls! Instructions for the box and lid can be found under the tutorials link on the sidebar. I stamped the acetate using Black Stazon and the bat stamp from Halloween Backgrounds. I used my corner rounder to create the scallops for the box top and bottom. I do have to say one thing my score pal scores beautifully on acetate!!

We are getting very excited about the up coming release of Langley Boy Designs on October 1!! I will have some sneak peeks for you later this week!!

Tomorrow is Megan's Birthday I can't believe my baby is going to be 11!! Whaaa!! Right now she love Finding Nemo so, we are having a nemo themed party, well not really party just us really, but it will be Nemo themed!!! I am going to attempt to try a Nemo card for her a little later today, but we will just have to wait and see if it works out.......LOL!

***Edited to Add***
To scallop an edge, use your corner rounder, with the guide taken off. Start at the edge of your paper, make first scallop, line up the punch at the edge of the first scallop and punch again, continue until finished.

Supplies: Batty for you, Halloween BG, Only orange and Black card stock, Acetate, Black ink, Corner rounder punch, Scalloped circle punch, Circle punch, Ribbon, Hole punch, Sticky Strip tape.

I'm still here!!!

Ok here's my story......LOL

1. My schedule with my daycare kiddie has changed from 2-6 to 9-5 so I am adapting to this no time thing, she is only 1 1/2 so going to the basement without her is not an option.......taking her with me........ we will be working on this any tips from moms with toddlers would be great!

2. For the past 2 mornings I have been in my studio trying operative word here trying to complete a project when morning #1 I am downstairs putting together a card for the Langley Boy Stamps reveal Oct 1, hopefully I will be able to give you a few sneak peeks........anyhoo........ I am downstairs in the zone as they would say, the dogs are playing on the floor beside, when all of a sudden Phoebe starts running around the room at mach 1 yelping at the top of her lungs (she is a confirmed wimp....LOL). She has made 2 complete laps of the table before I clue in to what is happening.

3. I finally determine from the blur running around the room that Phoebe has some how managed to get a gift bag wrapped around her leg and nice shiny purple one, so i get up to help her, bad plan for some insane reason she now not only thinks that this purple thing is trying to kill her now so am I by chasing her I was scaring her more........LOL!! It was quite funny!

4. She starts running up and down the stairs now at mach 3 speed and yelping so loud she is breaking the sound barrier!! After a few runs up and the down the stairs I hear her running around the coffee table up stairs then silence...............hmmmmmm........ now I am thinking either she has given herself a heart attack or the bag finally detached itself................so I go upstairs to check it out and...............................at this point I discover she has tinkled up and down the stairs from the fear of the killer bag...............when i find her the bag is on the floor and beside it is a visibly shaken puppy and I literally mean shaking!!!

5. So I cuddle her and calm her down then................the knock at the door the daycare kiddie is here, well off goes Phoebe running up and down the street being a yahoo!!! Me, the other mom and her ride are all out there trying to catch this dog, looking pretty funny might i add. Finally they get in the car to go cause I have told them i will round her up after they have left when all of a sudden Phoebe is airborne .....................she jumped right into the moms lap from who knows where, ok now I am think........ need doggy restraints.......LOL. Now to clean the stairs thankfully they are wood and carpet!!!Needless to say project never got completed!

6. Day 2 not as eventful as day one but none the less irritating, I am also working on a Halloween project so I attempt to start this task should be too hard, right????

7. Get paper all cut the score it wrong!!! Start over get paper cut, score it, try to line a stamp up miss.....AUGHHHHHH!!! Start again get paper cut, score it, try to line a stamp up, success, go to add layer and punch a hole through said layer no.......punch is not strong enough.......crap!!! Ok go back a step remove layer punch one by one, ok success!!!! The ding dong.................out of time!!!

So there you have no project to show you hopefully tonight i will find the time to complete it!!

Until then enjoy your day!!

Bon Appetit!

Today's way to use it challenge was to use spirals, so I used my spiral punch to make it into a film strip. This card took on so many forms to become what it is. When i started it i had a different sketch in mind, different colors, all together diffrent feel, but this is where I ended it up. The Dp has a slight sheen to it so it is hard to photograph properly.

Ribbon questions answered**

Where do i get my ribbon especially the one that has the velvet center?

WAL-MART!! They sell it in the sewing section by the meter, don't you just love Wal-mart?? The brown ribbon I used yesterday was from SU's winter mini last year.

Supplies: Voila, Rhonna Ferrar, Morning Marigold, Black, CM Dp (Octoberfest), spiral punch, brads, Cm sticker, markers, and dimesionals.

Sketch Challenge

This card was made for today's sketch challenge. I found this a rather tough sketch to work with, I just couldn't seem to find a balance for this card. Not to mention these pearls would not cooperate today they would not stop leaning to the side, no matter how much glue or tacking down I did! Thank for for all your wonderful comments yesterday about my missing Mojo!

Maybe with the new season and kids back in school my mojo will return in full force.......LOL! Not that I have ever ran at full force....LOL! Art has always been very hard for me as a kid I rarely ever crafted, my projects just never seemed to come out like the looked in my head KWIM. So there you have it I am not a natural.......the secrets out.........LOL! No really I am just hoping that I will eventually be able to make a card without all the metal blocks soon!

Supplies: Carte Postal, Chocolate chip, close to cocoa, card stock, Bracade Dp, Chocolate chip craft ink, ribbon, pearls, primas, and dimesionals.

Happy For You

I made this card for today's color challenge the colors were purely pomegranate (rose red), taken with teal and always artichoke. I'm not too sure about these colors together, but it is growing on me somewhat.

I am in such a rut my stamping mojo seems to be missing......LOL! Do you know how to find it again?? If you have any ideas please let me know. I just sit at my table for hours and nothing seems to want to come to me. I'm trying to get back into the challenges but even that seems to be difficult some days.

I also wanted to pass on this email I received today in memory of 9/11

The 'L I T T L E' Things .

As you might know, the head of a company survived
9/11 because his son started kindergarten.

Another fellow was alive because it was
His turn to bring donuts.

One woman was late because her
Alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike
Because of an auto accident.

One of them
Missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take
Time to change.

One's
Car wouldn't start.

One went back to
Answer the telephone.

One had a child that dawdled
And didn't get ready as soon as he should have.

One couldn't
Get a taxi.

The one that struck me was the man
Who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,
Took the various means to get to
work
But before he got there, he developed
a blister on his foot.
He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am
Stuck in traffic,
Miss an elevator,
Turn back to answer a ringing telephone...
All the little things that annoy me..
I think to myself,
This is exactly where
God wants me to be at this very moment...

Next time your morning seems to be
Going wrong,

The children are slow getting dressed,
You can't seem to find the car keys,
You hit every traffic light,
Don't get mad or frustrated;
God is at work watching over you.

May God continue to bless you
With all those annoying little things
And may you remember their possible purpose.

Pass this on to someone else, if you'd like...

There is NO LUCK attached.
If you delete this, it's okay:
God's Love Is Not Dependent On E-Mail !!

Supplies: Doodle this, rose red, taken with teal and always artichoke card stock , black and always artichoke inks, hodgepodge hardware, brads, ribbon, cuttlebug, metal photo corner, dimesionals.
